51st Annual Healthy Baby Contest Winners!

Two-year-old Alika Almaraz named O'ahu's Healthiest Baby

Alika Alan Almaraz of Mililani celebrated his second birthday just one day before being named the 51st Meadow Gold Healthy Baby of O'ahu, making the memorable event extra special.

Nearly 400 toddlers aged 1.5 to 3.5 years of age competed for the title of O'ahu's healthiest baby in two preliminary rounds at Pearlridge Center and Windward Mall. From those two preliminary rounds, 50 contestants with the highest scores were selected to compete in the final round on Sunday, July 25 at Ala Moana Center Stage.

The toddlers are judged on physical appearance, healthiness, and personality, with each category scored on a 50-point scale.

Alika garnered the most points of all 50 contestants, and was awarded numerous toys and prizes, and a $2,500 U.S. savings bond from Meadow Gold Dairies Hawai'i. Alika is the son of Dana and Anthony Almaraz.

		Second place was awarded to two-and-a-half-year-old Tiffany Agena of Pearl City, daughter of Kimberly and John Agena. She also received a $1,500 U.S. savings bond from Meadow Gold Dairies Hawai'i.

		Third place was awarded to Donovan K. Nacapuy of Pearl City, son of Cheryl M. Kapua and Ronald L. Nacapuy. Two-and-a-half-year-old Donovan was awarded a $1,000 U.S. savings bond from Meadow Gold.

		Fourth place was awarded to Spencer Mathews of Hawai'i Kai, daughter of Karen and Pieter Mathews. The two-and-a-half-year-old tyke received a $750 U.S. savings bond from Meadow Gold.

		Fifth place was awarded to two-and-a-half-year-old Trent Nakata of Mililani, son of Kathy and Lance Nakata. Trent also received a $500 U.S. savings bond from Meadow Gold.

All winners also received various toys and prizes.

The annual Meadow Gold Healthy Baby Contests on O'ahu, Kaua'i, Maui, Moloka'i, and in Kona and Hilo on the Big Island raise community awareness of the importance of teaching children proper health and nutrition habits at an early age. Establishing proper habits starting in early childhood can lead to living a healthy lifestyle.
